Frontline States was formed in 1990 when its director, Peter Sinclair, organised a celebration of culture from Southern Africa during the year Glasgow was the European ‘City of Culture’.

Previously, Peter had been the director of Journeyman, an independent book publishing company. Journeyman published titles that ranged from fiction, poetry and art to history and politics.

Since 1990, Frontline has undertaken management, networking and collaborative projects and produced and sold a number of publications.

Frontline now focuses on providing professional services to several university book publishers.
